dahmerberkowitzramirez: Aileen Wuornos Wuornos was a prostitute...

dahmerberkowitzramirez:

Aileen Wuornos

Wuornos was a prostitute working in Florida where she murdered 7 men between 1989 and 1990. She claimed all of the victims where murdered due to self-defence, after they attempted to rape her. She was ultimately convicted on six of the murders and sentenced to death, she remained on death row until she was executed by lethal injection on October 9th, 2002. Before her execution she did make an appeal to overturn her death sentence, which was denied, she then claimed she no longer wished to make any more appeals over her death sentence.

Aileen grew to despise men and met a woman, Tyria Moore, who soon became her partner. It is said that Moore knew about the murders, and upon the two abandoned one of the victims cars, is what ultimately lead to Wuornos' incarceration due to finding fingerprints that were already on file from her previous contact with the law.

Wuornos grew to be something of an icon, she was appreciated by feminists who honestly believed she acted on self defence, and by serial killer fans as the first "real" female serial killer.

Movies have been made on the case, the most famous being 'Monster', written and directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Charlize Theron as Wuornos and Christina Ricci as Moore (whose name was changed for the film). Theron won seventeen awards for her portrayal and the movie went on to be one of the best selling serial killer related movies ever.
